About Us

Welcome to Akasha's Littlest Explorers Daycare.

A nature-based daycare in the heart of the Comox Valley

Our Philosophy

At Akasha’s Littlest Explorers Daycare, we believe children are naturally curious, capable, and deserving of care that honours their whole being. Our cozy in-home daycare offers a calm, connected space for little explorers to grow through play, nature, and community.

That’s why our days are rooted in rhythm, not rush; filled with open-ended play, forest walks, shared stories, and moments of quiet wonder. We follow an inquiry-based, child-led approach that invites each child to explore at their own pace, supported by strong relationships, gentle guidance, and lots of time outdoors.

Hi, I'm Akasha!

I'm the owner and educator behind Akasha’s Littlest Explorers Daycare. I’ve been caring for children professionally for over seven years, supported by my Early Childhood Education certification and a license through VIHA. My in-home program is built on the belief that children are naturally curious, capable, and deserving of care that honours their whole selves. I’ve always felt a strong connection to early childhood, and working with children brings out a playful, curious spirit in me. I guide them as they grow, and they remind me to keep learning and finding joy in everyday moments.

When I’m not with my little explorers, you’ll find me cooking, baking, spending time in nature, camping, or singing with my ukulele. I also love building Lego with my son. Whether I’m in the woods or the kitchen, I’m always exploring, creating, and staying connected to the wonder that children bring into our lives.

Children inspire me just as much as I hope to inspire them. Their wonder reminds me to keep growing, stay curious, and meet the world with open eyes.

WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING

We could not have asked for a better place to land than at Akasha's Littlest Explorers Daycare. Our son started there when he was two and spent next nearly 3 years in Akasha's care. He absolutely loved being there. Akasha has such a lovely way about her. She has amazing skills of leading a crew of tiny people while being so warm and calm. And her environment she has created is so enjoyable for the kids. The back play area gave our son so much opportunities for discovery and enjoying nature. He truly grew so much in this time period and we will forever be grateful for our time with Akasha!

WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING

My son just went off to school and we had to say our sincerest goodbyes to our days spent at Akasha’s. We made lots of friends, always came home full of adventure (often requiring a nightly bath, all the best adventurers do!) and I felt so at ease knowing my child was active outside with his pals almost everyday of the year. Akasha had themes to follow along: the butterfly cycle, westcoast animals.. to name a few. It wasn’t common for my son to come home without a craft in hand. As I’ve said to Akasha in the past, his strong willed and leadership nature were never shied away from. Akasha always lets the littles be themselves. A special day home that feels like we all were a little community! Lucky us!

WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING

My son was at Akasha’s for 2.5 years and it was an excellent experience all around. Akasha creates a fun and safe environment. I especially love how much time they spend outdoors exploring and playing year round. We will miss her dearly now that my son is starting kindergarten.

WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING

We feel incredibly lucky to have had both of our kids under Akasha’s care. She is genuinely one of the most caring, thoughtful, and patient caregivers we've ever met. From the very beginning, it was clear that she treats every child as if they were her own…with warmth, love, and a nurturing spirit that puts both parents and little ones at ease.

Her space is beautiful and thoughtfully set up, with a lovely backyard and a covered patio that opens up to a lush green area. The kids are outside often and thrive.

Akasha provides a wonderful balance of structure and creativity. There are always fun, hands-on crafts and activities, and you can tell she puts a lot of thought into engaging the kids in meaningful, age-appropriate ways. She’s also highly organized, with clear communication . She is helpful and supportive, including guidance with the BC Childcare Benefit paperwork.

We’re so grateful for the safe, joyful, and nurturing environment she provides. It truly felt like a home away from home for our kiddos.

WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING

I feel so fortunate that Abby was able to spend her early years at Akasha’s daycare. From the very beginning, it was clear that this was more than just a childcare setting—it was a place filled with warmth, love, and genuine care.
The outdoor-focused play environment gave Abby the perfect space to explore, grow, and thrive. She absolutely loved her time outside, learning through play and developing friendships in such a nurturing environment. It was exactly the kind of experience we had hoped for her, and more.

What makes Akasha’s daycare so special is Akasha herself. She pours her heart and soul into caring for the children, treating each one as if they were her own. Leaving your child in someone else’s care is never easy, especially when they are so little, but Akasha removed all of that worry for us. We always knew Abby was safe, loved, and truly seen while she was there.
